3/21/08

Unfortunately we got some more bad news. My Doctors received my blood test results from the state and it was positive for Cystic Fibrosis. Typically less than half of positive blood tests actually end up being CF. However, with my other symptoms the Doctors are almost certain that I am positive. They will do a sweat test on me when I can get to a weight of 5 lbs - probably next week. My mom and dad are trying to stay positive but also realistic that this will probably confirm what the Doctors already assume. If you would like more information on the disease please go to http://www.cff.org/.

On a good note, my intestines are healing. The barium from yesterdays test has made its way out. Hopefully I'll be eating breast milk by the end of the weekend.

Love,
Ben

Hi Benjamin Anthony
It's Uncle Norman, I guess I have to put a great on that. I can't wait to meet you. I'll be in to see you soon. Everyone here in Atlanta has been praying for you. Don't worry about a thing, you have the best parents in the world and they will take real good care of you. And I'll help...You see your middle name is the same as mine Anthony, so that gives us a special bond. B.A.P--N.A.P. So keep a eye out for me I'll be the good looking one wearing glasses and a mustache.
Love you ..Uncle Norman Anthony
Jerry, Judy, and Mary send their love.
P.S. If you don't know what a mustache is yet it's the hair above the lip and below the nose.

Hi Sweet Baby Boy,

I'm so glad to hear that you are doing better despite the obstacles you may have to face in the future. As Uncle Norman said, you have the best two parents in the world and you will have the best care so you are one lucky boy! Hopefully I will be able to see you this weekend, you always bring a smile to my face and a flutter to my heart.

P.S. Uncle Bryan can't wait to meet you, he also has a mustache ;o)

Love you,
Aunt Tera

Hi Benjamin,
I'm Aunt Kathy's brother, Marty, and I'm so glad you have a blog so I can keep up with you. Aunt Kathy asked me to pray for you and it's so much easier to do when I can see your picture, and your mommy and daddy too!
You're in my family and church's prayers and we are grateful that Aunt Kathy told us about you.

Dear Benjamin,
We have been thinking about you daily! Especially since the time you were born (got the word while we were on the Small World ride at Disney-txt msg from aunt Katie). We can't wait to see you and play lots of games with you!!! Our sister Libby and our cousin Jakie will be just your age...and we are fun babysitters!!! Hang in there buddy...you are in our prayers. Can't wait to play baggo with my dad's new board (not as cool as your dads but he thinks it is). We hope to see you soon.

Hey Ben,

You are the sweetest little man! Nice work on the MSU game, those were some good score picks. I'm glad to hear that you are doing better, you're so strong! I hope I can meet you soon, but you should know that there are lots of people here in California praying for you and thinking about you everyday. Your parents are some of the best people I know, so you are very lucky.

Stay strong.

Hi Benjamin,

You are such a little cutie! We have been keeping up with your progress and have confidence that you'll come out healthy and strong, especially with all the love from your awesome parents!

We look forward to meeting you.

Love,

Megan and Rich Ratke

PS - Rich says there's no rush out of the hospital, you'll have plenty of time to develop as the next 3rd basemen for the Tigers. Cabrera won't be retired for a decade or so!

Hi Benjamin Anthony,
My name is Rich. I am the father of a man that your Dad works with. His name is Aaron. My wife also met your Mom where she works. So we sort of have a far-away relationship with you. But you are in our prayers always. It's hard enough coming into the world without all the additional setbacks that you have had. But you have a wonderful, loving family who will be with you every step of the way. Your pictures are beautiful! We look forward to following your progress and watch you grow. Keep in mind that you will be in our prayers constantly.

Love you,
Rich & Elaine Rudy

Hey Ben! I am so glad that you are finally out of that womb! It's really fun out here in the world. My Mommy and your Daddy have been friends for a very long time. My parents have been telling me all about you and they even showed me your picture. I can't wait to meet you. Maybe we can go on a date sometime!
