Food is good!

My upper GI came back and it presented no issues! This was great news and the doctor's started my feeding plan on June 4th. I am up to 45 cc's of breast milk right now! My feeds are increased by 5 cc's every other feed with a goal of 80 cc's, almost 3 oz. They are slowly lowering my TPN as my feeds increase. I had lost a bit of weight last night and I was at 6lbs 9 oz. The doctors said they expect that while they are adjusting my feeds for the next few days. Once I am on full feeds I should be gaining more. They said if I don't they will have to make adjustments. One possibility is adding human milk fortifier which would add 4 k/cals to my breast milk. That doesn't sound like much, but for babies it is a decent amount of added calories. Because of my digestive issues they want to first see if I can just gain weight on full feeds because adding things to my diet could have negative affects on me. Overall I am a happy little man in my new digs!

Smiles, Ben

Hey Peanut Butter,
I love the new pictures. You are too cute! Your mom talked with your cousin Emma on her drive home from the hospital the other night, she was pretty funy and kept asking about your dad and when she knew the answer of where he was, she continued the next day to tell me that uncle chris was driving behind aunt kati and that he wasn't with her. She deffinitly likes to talk and when you come home she will keep you pretty entertained. You will never need a tv. I can't wait to see you! Love you lots. and Emma sends Kisses too! ~Auntie Annie
~Keep up the good work, because I know that your mom has no more room in the freezer!

Food is a good thing - eat it up so you can get big and strong, then you'll be on your way back home again. I'm really happy to hear you are perking up again and being the champ that you are!

Hey Ben!

Those are some great new pictures of you chillin' in your new digs! You're looking really great - extra handsome!

Hey, make sure you tell your mom and dad thanks for the tickets - mary mary and one of da boyz went with us and we got to drink from the stanley cup after the game. It was a lot of fun - one of my best nights ever!

And tell them I'm sorry about the squatter in the house!

I'm hoping to get in with the doc this week and find out what's going on so I can come see you again...I have to wait for him to clear me so I don't bring anything to you. I'm right there with ya on the belly issues and know how frustrating it is, but hang in there. It doesn't necessarily get easier, but you start to feel it as your own "normal" and just keep going! I'm jealous that you're eating now...I'm working on it myself, but lately haven't been so good. Oh well, such is life, right?!

Love you and hope to see you real soon! hugs and bugs, xoxo

Happy 3 Month Birthday, Buddy!

We are happy you are doing so well. Keep eating and getting stronger so you can go home. Although your cousins will miss the new waiting room (and the snacks your Daddy buys them), we’d rather be visiting you at home. Tell your Dad that Mr. J has already lost “the bet” and of course Great Grandma Madeline took the blame. What can we say…he’s an addict!

Hugs and smooches,
Uncle Todd, Aunt Nicole, Josh, and Maddie
